2024 - 2025 WHOLE CHILD AWARDS

Join NYSASCD in Making 2025 the Year of the Whole Child and Whole Educator.

Celebrate your successes in educating the Whole Child by applying for a NYSASCD Whole Child Award.

Apply for a NYSASCD Whole Child Award NOW!

Every school in NYS strives to support our students beyond a narrow view of instruction and assessments.  Your school has many of the Whole Child attributes already in place or you are building toward them.

Here's your chance to brag about the work you and your fellow educators are doing and the progress you are making toward supporting the Whole Child.

Please consider nominating your school for recognition as a Whole Child School that supports healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged students.

NYSASCD has created an award at the state level to recognize schools that go above and beyond to educate the whole child.   The Whole Child Award identifies these schools for not only educating the whole child but for having had success in creating students who are knowledgeable, emotionally and physically healthy, engaged in an inclusive learning environment, and prepared to become lifelong learners. This award salutes those schools that have changed the focus from one of a narrow academic vision to one that promotes the development of the whole child; healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. We invite you to apply for NYSASCD’s Whole Child Award.

For information about what it means to focus on Whole Child education, see descriptions and rubric.

Launched in 2007, ASCD's Whole Child Initiative is an effort to change the conversation about education from a focus on narrowly defined academic achievement to one that promotes the long-term development and success of children. NYSASCD supports this premise.

Nominees need to indicate a plan that is feasible that includes their approaches to a whole child education through collaboration, coordination, and integration of services, and strategies to educate the Whole Child; healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Applications are due on February 14, 2025.

Thank you very much for your submissions!
